App-specific disclosure for Explain My Phone (Android)

Effective Date: May 20, 2026 · Publisher: Versanyx Studios · Package: com.versanyx.explainmy_phone

Explain My Phone is an Android device diagnostics and utility application published by Versanyx Studios. This document is the app-specific legal disclosure for Explain My Phone and is intended for use in the app, on the website, and in connection with Google Play review and public release.

This document supplements, and should be read together with, the master Versanyx Studios Privacy Policy and Terms hosted on the official website. For Explain My Phone feature-specific behavior, this app-specific disclosure governs to the extent permitted by law.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains what information Explain My Phone may access, process, store locally, share, or transmit, how that information is used, and what choices users have.

Explain My Phone is designed primarily as a local-first utility for users to inspect and understand their own devices. It is not an advertising product, does not operate a developer-controlled telemetry backend for automatic diagnostics collection, and is not intended to profile users for marketing purposes.

2. Relationship to the master policy

The master Versanyx Studios Privacy Policy applies generally. This app-specific policy provides additional disclosures required for Explain My Phone because the app uses Android permissions and system APIs for device diagnostics, battery monitoring, app visibility, usage analysis, network inspection, widgets, and user-requested export and sharing features. Report verification is performed locally on-device using manually entered verification hashes or pasted verification payloads. If there is any conflict with respect to Explain My Phone feature behavior, this document governs to the extent permitted by law.

3. Core privacy approach

Explain My Phone follows a local-first design model.

  • The app does not require account creation or user login.
  • The app does not include an advertising SDK.
  • The app does not include an analytics SDK.
  • The app does not include a crash reporting SDK.
  • The app does not include Firebase.
  • The app does not automatically send diagnostics telemetry to a developer-controlled backend.
  • Most diagnostics, monitoring, inspection, and analysis occur locally on the user's device.

Explain My Phone currently uses Google Play Billing for a one-time premium upgrade on Android. Google Play may process purchase, payment, fraud-prevention, and account-level transaction information under Google's own terms. Explain My Phone verifies purchase status for entitlement purposes and stores a local premium-access flag on the device.

4. Information the app accesses or processes on-device

A. Device and system information

  • device name, model, manufacturer, brand, product code, region or sales code where available;
  • Android version, API level, build identifiers, build time, and security patch level;
  • Android ID and other device configuration identifiers exposed by Android APIs;
  • bootloader, baseband, hardware, board, kernel, supported ABIs, virtualization or partition details where available;
  • memory, RAM, storage capacity, storage usage, display metrics, refresh rate, GPU details, and related diagnostics information.

Purpose: device diagnostics, health summaries, compatibility insights, hardware details, and user-requested reports.

B. Battery and charging telemetry

  • battery level, status, charging state, temperature, voltage, current, charge counter, estimated capacity, manual cycle tracking, charging session telemetry.

Purpose: battery health, charging guard alerts, thermal monitoring, endurance calculations, battery trends.

C. Installed apps and usage data

  • installed app inventory, package names, app labels, system-app status, target SDK, installer source where available;
  • app permissions and app size information for selected apps;
  • app usage statistics, last-used timestamps, foreground duration, weekly history, usage-event patterns for unused-app and ghost activity detection.

Important: installed app inventory and app usage are sensitive categories under Google Play policy and may constitute personal or device-related information under applicable privacy laws.

D. Wi-Fi and network information

  • Wi-Fi SSID, BSSID, link speed, frequency, signal level, IP, gateway, subnet, DNS, interface details, nearby Wi-Fi scans where available;
  • aggregate Wi-Fi or network usage statistics exposed by the device;
  • connectivity and network state for diagnostics and inspection.

Important: On Android, retrieving Wi-Fi identifiers (like SSID and BSSID) requires the app to request device location permissions. Consequently, the app collects and processes Precise Location data. This Precise Location and network data are processed strictly locally and temporarily on your device exclusively to enable core diagnostic lab network inspection features — it is never utilized for tracking, user profiling, or advertising purposes.

E. Report verification

Report verification is performed locally on-device using manually entered verification hashes or pasted verification payloads. The app does not use the camera or scan QR codes. The app doesn't transmit any verification data off-device.

F. Sensor and hardware readings

Sensor list, orientation, compass, and other hardware sensor outputs to show hardware availability and real-time sensor information.

5. Information stored locally on the device

  • settings and feature toggles (SharedPreferences);
  • widget configuration and widget state;
  • charging guard and battery monitoring state;
  • manual battery cycle and endurance tracking values;
  • premium entitlement cache;
  • security scan timestamps and similar local feature state;
  • a local Drift database `health_history_secure.db` containing daily health snapshots.

The local daily health database may contain: date, health score, average battery temperature, storage used (GB), top app name. Entries older than 30 days are deleted automatically.

6. Information the app transmits or shares

Explain My Phone does not automatically transmit collected device telemetry to Versanyx Studios servers. Information may leave the device only in limited, user-initiated situations.

A. Support contact

If a user contacts support from within the app, the device email client may pre-fill basic device details (model, Android version, SDK). Information is transmitted only if the user sends the email.

B. User-requested export, printing, or sharing

The app can generate PDF reports, screenshots, or shareable outputs. Selected destinations or recipients process content under their own privacy practices. Exports may contain sensitive information — review carefully before sharing.

C. Platform services

The app relies on Android and Flutter platform components for notifications, widgets, camera, email, file saving, printing, and sharing.

D. Google Play Billing

For premium upgrades, transactions process through Google Play Billing. Explain My Phone may query Google Play to retrieve product details, verify entitlement, restore, and acknowledge purchases. Full payment card details are not collected by the app.

7. Third-party packages and platform components

  • device_info_plus
  • battery_plus
  • permission_handler
  • flutter_local_notifications
  • printing
  • pdf
  • share_plus
  • wifi_scan
  • connectivity_plus
  • drift and sqlite3_flutter_libs
  • shared_preferences
  • a local usage_stats plugin bundled with the project.

No Firebase, Google Analytics for Firebase, AdMob, Meta Ads, AppsFlyer, Mixpanel, Sentry, Crashlytics, or similar advertising/telemetry SDKs are included.

8. Notifications and background services

  • monitor battery temperature and charging state while the app is open;
  • schedule Android background alarms when the app is not open;
  • restore local monitoring schedules after device restart using RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED;
  • display local notifications when configured thresholds are reached.

Notifications are generated locally based on locally read system information. Battery alerts are informational only and do not guarantee prevention of overheating, hardware damage, battery failure, or charging-related risks.

9. Legal bases and user choices

Where GDPR, the DPDP Act, 2023, or similar law applies, primary legal bases may include performance of the requested service, legitimate interests in functionality and safety warnings, and consent for optional permissions or features.

Users can control data flows by:

  • denying or revoking Android permissions;
  • disabling charging guard or background monitoring features;
  • avoiding export, print, share, or support email actions;
  • clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.

10. Data retention

  • daily health history retained up to 30 days, then auto-deleted;
  • local preferences and feature state remain until cleared/uninstalled;
  • support emails retained according to provider and Versanyx support practices;
  • exported files remain wherever the user saves or shares them.

11. Data sharing, sale, and the Right to Opt-Out

Versanyx Studios does not sell personal information or sensitive user data obtained through Explain My Phone. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. Users have the absolute right to know whether their data is shared or sold. Because our core functionalities operate locally and we do not sell or share your data for commercial monetization, an explicit third-party commercial Opt-Out toggle is unnecessary. However, you can completely opt-out of all local tracking and any user-initiated data transmission at any time by withdrawing your consent, turning off feature toggles, or deleting the application.

12. Security

  • local-first processing for most functions;
  • app backup disabled in the Android manifest;
  • use of app-local storage for historical health data;
  • local notification logic, no remote alerting service.

No software or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Avoid exporting or sharing reports you do not want disclosed.

13. Children's privacy

Explain My Phone is a device utility app and is not directed to children under 13. It is not designed to create child profiles or knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact Versanyx Studios if you believe a child has provided personal information through support.

14. International users

If you are located outside India, information sent through support email or third-party sharing destinations may be processed in other jurisdictions depending on the services you choose.

15. Privacy rights

  • access to personal information we hold about you;
  • correction of inaccurate information;
  • deletion of information we control;
  • objection to certain processing;
  • withdrawal of consent for optional permissions or data flows;
  • portability, where applicable;
  • non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights;
  • rights relating to sale or sharing (we do not sell or share for targeted advertising).

Because Explain My Phone has no user account database or developer-controlled telemetry backend, many privacy actions can be done on-device. Requests concerning support communications may be sent to support@versanyx.in.

16. Regional compliance

A. India

Versanyx Studios intends to handle personal data consistent with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, to the extent applicable.

B. EEA, UK, and Brazil (GDPR & LGPD Compliance)

Users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Brazil possess explicit rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD). Versanyx Studios is the Data Controller. You have the explicit right to know how your data is handled, request access, erasure, or restriction of processing, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with a local supervisory privacy authority if you believe our processing violates regional regulations.

C. United States (California CCPA & Virginia VCDPA Compliance)

Pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), we disclose that we access categories of identifiers, device information, sensitive personal information (installed app inventory), and network/precise location data. These are processed entirely locally. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted behavioral advertising. You have the right to request access to this data, request deletion, and opt-out of data transfers as detailed in Section 11.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Versanyx Studios may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be published in-app, on https://versanyx.in, in the Google Play listing, or through another legally appropriate notice channel.
