About This Document

This document contains the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions that govern all products, services, and digital experiences developed and published by Versanyx Studios. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using any Versanyx Studios product, you agree to the terms set out in this document.

Versanyx Studios is an independent software development studio operating under that brand name. Our current portfolio includes Android applications, with Explain My Phone being our principal product — a device diagnostics, battery health, app analyzer, Wi-Fi diagnostics, and system utility application for Android. We are expanding into game development and additional software categories. This document applies to all current and future Versanyx Studios products unless a product-specific legal document expressly supersedes it.

1. Introduction

Versanyx Studios is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect or access, why we access it, how we use it, and what rights and choices you have. We design our products to process data locally on your device wherever possible, to avoid unnecessary data transmission, and to be transparent about any information flows that do occur.

We do not sell personal information. We do not include advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs in our current products. Our approach is to collect only what is genuinely necessary to provide the features you choose to use.

2. Who We Are

Versanyx Studios is an independent software development studio that creates Android applications and games for a global audience. For all privacy-related enquiries and rights requests, please contact us at support@versanyx.in.

3. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • all Android applications developed and published by Versanyx Studios, including Explain My Phone;
  • all games and interactive software developed and published by Versanyx Studios, including future titles;
  • any websites, support pages, or landing pages operated by Versanyx Studios;
  • any support communications or emails you send to us.

Where a specific product requires additional privacy disclosures — for example, to satisfy Google Play Data Safety requirements or platform-specific rules — a product-level disclosure will be published alongside or within that product. Product-level disclosures should be read together with this policy.

4. Our Core Privacy Approach

Our products are built on the following principles:

  • On-device processing: data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly take an action that causes transmission, such as sending a support email or sharing a report;
  • No unnecessary collection: we access only the data categories required to deliver the features you have enabled;
  • No advertising SDKs: our current products do not include any advertising or ad-targeting libraries;
  • No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs: our current products do not include remote analytics or telemetry services;
  • No data sales: we do not sell, rent, or broker personal information to third parties;
  • User control: you can revoke permissions, disable features, clear app data, or uninstall our products at any time.

If a future product or update introduces remote services, third-party analytics, advertising integration, cloud sync, user accounts, or payment processing, this policy and the relevant product-level disclosure will be updated before that product or update is released.

5. Information We May Access or Process

5.1 Device and System Information

Applications that include diagnostic features may access device model, manufacturer, brand, Android version, API level, build identifiers, security patch level, hardware specifications, memory capacity, storage capacity and usage, display metrics, GPU information, and similar system data. This information is used to generate diagnostics, health summaries, hardware reports, and compatibility information on your device.

5.2 Installed Application Inventory and App Usage Data

Our app analysis features may access the list of applications installed on your device, including package names, app labels, system-app status, install source where available, and app size. Where you enable app usage features, we may also access usage statistics such as foreground time, last-used timestamps, and weekly usage patterns.

This information is sensitive. It is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. It may be included in a report only if you choose to export or share one. Before enabling these features, we will explain what is accessed and why.

5.3 Battery, Charging, and Thermal Data

Battery and charging diagnostic features may access battery level, status, health, temperature, voltage, current, charge counter, estimated capacity, and charging session information. This data is used on-device to calculate health scores, detect charging conditions, generate thermal alerts, and provide endurance estimates.

5.4 Network and Wi-Fi Information

Network diagnostic features may access Wi-Fi identifiers (SSID, BSSID), link speed, signal strength, frequency, IP configuration details, gateway and DNS information, and nearby Wi-Fi scan results where the Android operating system permits access.

On Android, certain Wi-Fi scan results and identifiers require location permission as mandated by the operating system. Where location permission is requested for this purpose, it is used solely to enable Wi-Fi diagnostic features and is not used for advertising, location tracking, or navigation purposes.

5.5 Camera

Where a product includes a verification or code-scanning feature, camera access is used only when you open that feature and only for the purpose of scanning a code. We do not record video, capture or store still images, or access the camera in the background.

5.6 Sensor and Hardware Readings

Some features display real-time readings from device sensors such as the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, or barometer. These readings are displayed on-device and are not transmitted to our servers.

5.7 Support Communications

When you contact us by email at support@versanyx.in, we receive and process the information you include in your message — such as your email address, a description of your issue, and any device details you choose to share. This information is used only to respond to your enquiry. Some of our products pre-fill support emails with basic device information such as model name and Android version as a convenience; that information is sent only if you choose to send the email.

5.8 Exported and Shared Reports

Our applications may allow you to generate PDF reports, screenshots, or shareable files containing device diagnostics, app information, battery data, network details, or usage summaries. These reports are created on your device. They are not automatically transmitted to our servers. If you choose to export, print, email, or share a report, the receiving application or service will process that content under its own terms and privacy practices.

Reports generated by our applications may contain sensitive device and personal information. You should review any report carefully before sharing it and share only with recipients you trust and through channels you control.

6. How We Use Information

We use information accessed by our products for the following purposes only:

  • to provide, operate, and maintain the specific features you have chosen to use;
  • to generate on-device diagnostics, health scores, alerts, and reports;
  • to display background notifications when you have enabled monitoring features such as charging guard;
  • to respond to support enquiries you send to us;
  • to maintain the safety, security, and integrity of our products;
  • to comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, cross-context behavioural profiling, or sale to or sharing with third parties.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent European data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract or service: processing that is necessary to provide the features you have requested and that you have enabled within the application;
  • Legitimate interests: maintaining core application functionality, providing safety alerts such as battery temperature warnings, and responding to support requests;
  • Consent: processing for optional features or permissions that you actively enable, such as background notifications, camera-based scanning, or voluntary support communications.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by disabling the relevant feature, revoking the relevant Android permission, or contacting us.

8. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertising partners, data brokers, or analytics providers. Information may be disclosed only in the following circumstances:

  • Support communications: when you contact us by email, your message is received by our team for the purpose of responding to your enquiry;
  • User-initiated sharing: when you use an in-app share, export, print, or email function, the content you share is processed by the application or service you choose, under its own terms;
  • Legal obligation: where required by applicable law, a court order, a regulatory authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public;
  • Business transfers: in the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets relating to our studio, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

9. Third-Party Packages and Platform Components

Our applications use open-source Flutter and Android libraries to provide on-device functionality — for example, for local notifications, PDF generation, QR scanning, Wi-Fi queries, and local data storage. These components operate locally on your device and do not transmit data to third parties on our behalf.

Our current mobile products do not include Firebase, Google Analytics for Firebase, AdMob, Meta Ads, AppsFlyer, Mixpanel, Sentry, Crashlytics, or any equivalent remote telemetry, advertising, or crash-reporting service. If this changes in a future product or update, we will disclose it in advance.

9A. Website — Google Tag, Google Ads & Analytics

The Versanyx Studios website at versanyx.in loads the Google tag (gtag.js) for the Google Ads property AW-18194999371. This applies only to the website. It does not apply to our mobile applications (including Explain My Phone), which remain free of advertising, analytics and telemetry SDKs.

9A.1 What the Google tag does

  • Measures the effectiveness of Google Ads campaigns (conversion tracking and remarketing).
  • Aggregates basic site analytics (pages viewed, referrer, approximate session activity).
  • May set first-party and third-party cookies on the .google.com, .doubleclick.net, .googletagmanager.com and .googleadservices.com domains.

9A.2 Categories of data shared with Google

  • Online identifiers: cookie IDs, Google Click ID (GCLID) where present, and advertising identifiers Google assigns in your browser.
  • Device and browser information: user agent, browser type and version, operating system, language, screen size, time zone.
  • Network information: IP address (truncated where supported via anonymize_ip) and approximate geolocation derived from it (typically country / region / city level).
  • Usage data: URL of the page viewed, page title, referrer URL, timestamp, and conversion events (for example, clicks on the Play Store link).

We do not knowingly transmit names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or other directly identifying information to Google through the website tag. Google acts as an independent controller for data it receives through its tags; please refer to Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Ads Data Processing terms for details. Data may be processed on servers operated by Google LLC, including in the United States and other countries.

9A.3 Purposes

  • Measure Google Ads conversions (for example, determine whether an ad led to a Play Store visit).
  • Build remarketing audiences for Google Ads (only after you grant consent).
  • Understand which pages and content are useful so we can improve the website.

9A.4 Legal basis and consent

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, the DPDP Act, 2023, or similar laws apply, our legal basis for placing Google Ads / Analytics cookies and for sharing data with Google is your consent, collected through the cookie banner shown the first time you visit the site. Strictly necessary cookies are placed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

We implement Google Consent Mode v2: until you click "Accept all" on the banner, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage are set to denied. In this state Google does not set advertising or analytics cookies and only receives minimal, cookieless pings used solely for aggregated conversion modeling. If you click "Reject non-essential", consent stays denied.

9A.5 Retention

Cookies set by Google through our tag typically expire up to 24 months from your last visit, unless you delete them sooner via your browser. Data Google processes is retained according to Google's own retention schedules.

9A.6 Your choices

  • Decline non-essential cookies on the consent banner, or clear the vx_consent_v1 entry in your browser storage to be shown the banner again.
  • Block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
  • Opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com.
  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

10. Local Storage and Data Retention

Most data processed by our applications is stored only on your device. Retention is largely under your control:

  • App settings, feature toggles, and preferences are retained in local storage until you clear app data or uninstall the application;
  • Local history databases — for example, the daily health history database in Explain My Phone — retain entries for a defined period (up to 30 days for Explain My Phone) and automatically delete older records;
  • Background monitoring state and widget configuration are retained locally until you disable the feature, clear app data, or uninstall the application;
  • Support emails you send to us are retained for as long as is necessary to respond to your enquiry and to meet our legal obligations;
  • Exported reports, screenshots, or shared files remain wherever you have saved or shared them and are under your control.

11. Background Monitoring and Notifications

When you enable optional features such as charging guard or battery temperature monitoring, the application may:

  • run scheduled background checks at defined intervals to read battery state;
  • re-register background monitoring schedules after device restart;
  • display local notifications on your device when monitored values reach configured thresholds.

All of this processing occurs locally using data read from your device. No battery readings or monitoring data are transmitted to our servers. You may disable background monitoring and notifications at any time through in-app settings or Android system settings.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect information processed by our applications. These include designing features to operate on-device without remote data transmission, disabling Android app backup where appropriate, and limiting background data access to what is required by enabled features.

No application or software system can guarantee absolute security. You should take reasonable precautions when exporting, sharing, or emailing reports that contain device identifiers, app information, network details, or other sensitive data.

13. Children's Privacy

Our current utility and diagnostic applications are general-purpose tools and are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through backend account systems, analytics platforms, or remote telemetry.

If you believe that a child has submitted personal information to us through a support email or other communication, please contact us at support@versanyx.in and we will review and delete that information where required.

Our future game titles may be suitable for general audiences including younger players. Where a game is directed at or likely to attract children, we will comply with applicable requirements — including COPPA, the UK Children's Code, GDPR Article 8, and any applicable Indian regulations — and will update this policy and the relevant product-level disclosures before that product is released.

14. International Users

Versanyx Studios makes its products available globally. If you are located outside India, information you voluntarily provide to us — for example through a support email — may be transmitted to and processed in India. By using our products and voluntarily contacting us, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in India in accordance with applicable data protection law.

We handle all personal information in accordance with the principles described in this policy and with applicable data protection legislation, regardless of where it is processed.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to personal information we hold about you:

  • Right of access: to obtain confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you and to receive a copy;
  • Right to rectification: to have inaccurate information corrected;
  • Right to erasure: to request deletion of information we hold or control;
  • Right to restriction: to ask us to restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances;
  • Right to object: to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • Right to data portability: to receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format, where applicable;
  • Right to withdraw consent: for any processing based on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing;
  • Right to non-discrimination: to exercise your privacy rights without being penalised;
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: our current products do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.

Because our products process most data locally on your device, many of these rights can be exercised directly: by revoking Android permissions, disabling features, clearing app data, deleting exported files, or uninstalling our applications. For rights requests relating to support communications or other information you have sent to us, please contact support@versanyx.in.

We will respond to rights requests within the timeframe required by applicable law — typically within 30 days, or within 45 days for complex requests under CCPA/CPRA.

16. California Privacy Disclosures (CCPA / CPRA)

For California residents, to the extent the CCPA and CPRA apply, the following additional disclosures are provided:

  • Categories of information that may be accessed or processed by our applications include: identifiers (such as Android ID and device identifiers); device information; application activity information; network and Wi-Fi information; and device diagnostics;
  • Based on our current product implementations, this information is processed locally on your device and is not sold or shared for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising purposes;
  • If you voluntarily contact us by support email or share a generated report, the information included in that communication may be received and processed to respond to your request;
  • We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

California residents may submit requests to know, delete, correct, or opt out of sale or sharing of personal information by contacting support@versanyx.in. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your California privacy rights.

17. India — Digital Personal Data Protection

We acknowledge the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and our obligations as a Data Fiduciary where applicable. We process personal data only for the purposes described in this policy. Where we rely on consent as a legal basis, you may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us. You have the right to seek information about your personal data we process and to seek correction or erasure of inaccurate or incomplete data. You may raise a grievance by contacting the Grievance Officer at the details provided in Section 20 below.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our products, applicable law, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and publish the updated policy in the relevant application store listing and on our website at versanyx.in, and, where applicable, in-app. Your continued use of our products after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The most current version will always be available in our Play Store listing and at versanyx.in.
